Aged care in Campsie
In-home and community aged care delivered across Campsie and the surrounding streets, with carers matched on language, gender preference and culture.
What ageing in Campsie actually looks like
Campsie is one of the most practical suburbs in Sydney to grow old in, provided you can get around it. Beamish Street is a dense, level shopping strip, the station is central, and Canterbury Hospital is right there - a combination very few suburbs offer.
The catch is that Campsie is busy and increasingly high-density, and a person who is unsteady, hard of hearing or confused can find a crowded main street genuinely overwhelming. Accompanied activities are requested here more than almost anywhere else we work.
The homes here
Heavily weighted toward apartments and unit blocks, including many older walk-ups without lifts, alongside remaining freestanding homes in the side streets.
Community and language
One of Sydney's most linguistically diverse suburbs, with very large Chinese and Korean communities alongside long-established Greek, Lebanese and Vietnamese populations. We are straightforward about language matching here - we can reliably match Arabic, and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot do for other languages.
What we are asked for most in Campsie
- Accompanied activities along Beamish Street and to Canterbury Hospital
- Personal care in apartments and older walk-up units
- Post-discharge support from Canterbury Hospital
- Meal preparation and shopping assistance
We deliver the full Support at Home service list here, across clinical and allied health, personal and social support and home and daily living. You can model what your budget covers with our pricing calculator before speaking to anyone.
Asked locally
Beamish Street overwhelms my mother now. Can someone go with her?
Yes, and it is the service we are asked for most in Campsie. A busy, crowded main street is genuinely difficult for someone who is unsteady, hard of hearing or easily disoriented, and having someone alongside is often the difference between going out and not going out.
Do you have carers who speak Korean or Chinese?
We will be straight with you. Arabic we can match reliably. For Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese we will tell you honestly at referral whether we can match consistently, because a carer who speaks the language once is not the same as one who speaks it every week.
Where we take people in Campsie
Campsie has more going on for older residents than almost any suburb we work in. The difficulty is rarely a lack of things to do; it is getting to them through a crowded main street.
Campsie Library and Knowledge Centre
14-28 Amy Street, inside Campsie Centre
Three hours of free parking in the centre car park. It runs Tai Chi, a Mahjong club on Mondays and Thursdays, Chinese calligraphy on Wednesdays, and a form-filling and smart-device help session on Tuesdays, and it holds collections in Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean. Some of the people we support go to the Mahjong with a carer who stays for the session.
Anzac Park
Anzac Square
Step-free, with a gazebo and seating. Short, close, and useful as a halfway point when Beamish Street has become too much to do in one go.
The Cooks River foreshore
South of the suburb
Flat and open, and the better option when someone has been told to walk daily but finds the shopping strip overwhelming.
Getting to any of these sits under accompanied activities or direct transport. Both are funded services, not favours. If there is somewhere else that matters to the person you are calling about, tell us and we will build the week around that instead.
Other areas we cover
This is not a complete list. We deliver aged care across Sydney, so if your suburb is not shown here, get in touch and we will arrange suitable supports for you.
