Aged care in Roselands

In-home and community aged care delivered across Roselands and the surrounding streets, with carers matched on language, gender preference and culture.

What ageing in Roselands actually looks like

Roselands is defined for most residents by Roselands Shopping Centre, which has been the area's meeting point since the 1960s. For older people it is genuinely useful: undercover, level, with seating, parking and most services in one place. A good many of our Roselands clients want help getting there and back rather than help at home.

The suburb itself has no train station, so buses and lifts do the work, and that is usually the first thing to plan around when someone stops driving.

The homes here

A mix of freestanding post-war homes, duplexes and a growing number of unit blocks. Where clients are in older walk-up units, stairs without a lift become the limiting factor sooner than anything medical.

Community and language

A long-established multicultural area with Greek, Lebanese, Chinese and Italian families well represented, many of whom arrived decades ago and have aged in the same homes.

Questions from Roselands families

Asked locally

Can a carer take my mother to Roselands Shopping Centre?

Yes, and it is one of our most requested outings here. The centre is undercover, level and has seating, which makes it one of the easier places in the area for someone using a walker or tiring quickly.

She lives in an older unit block with no lift. Does that stop services?

No, but it shapes them. Stairs without a lift often become the real limit on independence well before any medical issue does, so we look at what can be done to reduce trips up and down, and an occupational therapist can advise on whether the arrangement remains workable.

Around the suburb

Where we take people in Roselands

Roselands is one of the easier suburbs in our catchment for someone using a walker, provided the trip out is organised for them.

Roselands Shopping Centre

Roselands Drive

Undercover, level, with seating and parking, and the area's meeting point since the 1960s. It is our most requested outing in this suburb by a wide margin, and for many people it is the social part of the week rather than the shopping part.

Roselands Leisure and Aquatic Centre

Centre Avenue

A heated 25-metre indoor pool and aqua classes. For someone with arthritic knees or hips, water is often the only exercise that does not hurt, and a carer can take them and wait rather than the whole thing depending on a lift from family.

Campsie Library and Knowledge Centre

14-28 Amy Street, Campsie

Inside Campsie Centre, with three hours of free parking in the centre car park. Roselands has no branch of its own, and this is the one most people here use.

Getting to any of these sits under accompanied activities or direct transport. Both are funded services, not favours. If there is somewhere else that matters to the person you are calling about, tell us and we will build the week around that instead.

  3. 3Matching your carerWe match a carer on language, gender preference, cultural fit and availability, then brief them properly on your household before the first visit.
  4. 4Services startSupport begins on the agreed schedule with the same carer wherever possible. We check in early, then keep checking in.
