Home and daily living

Cleaning, laundry, shopping, gardening, maintenance and meals. The practical tasks that quietly become difficult before anything else does.

Services in this category

7 services
  • General house cleaningRegular cleaning to keep the home safe and comfortable. Usually the first service families ask for, and often the one that reveals what else is going on in the house.
  • Laundry servicesWashing, drying and putting away. A surprisingly common falls risk, because laundries are frequently down steps or outside.
  • Shopping assistanceWith you or on your behalf, including halal shopping and specific dietary requirements. Going together keeps someone active and involved; going for them is sometimes what is needed.
  • GardeningKeeping the yard manageable and safe underfoot. On the larger blocks common in the south west, this is one of the most requested services we provide.
  • Home maintenance and repairsSmall jobs that reduce risk around the house. Changing a lightbulb while standing on a chair is how a surprising number of hip fractures begin.
  • Meal preparationCooking in your kitchen, to your tastes and dietary needs. A meal plan that ignores what a household actually eats gets quietly abandoned within a fortnight.
  • Meal deliveryPrepared meals brought to the door, for people who would rather not cook or no longer safely can.

Why domestic help is not a small thing

Families often feel slightly embarrassed asking for cleaning and gardening, as though it is a luxury compared with nursing. It is not. Domestic tasks are where a great many serious injuries actually happen: reaching, climbing, carrying, bending over a wet floor, dragging a bin.

They are also the earliest reliable signal. A house that has become dirty, a garden that has got away, unopened mail and an empty fridge usually indicate something well before anyone gets a formal diagnosis.

Weekend and evening rates

Domestic services delivered on weekends and outside standard hours cost more, and a care plan built around Saturday visits will use a budget considerably faster than the same plan on a Tuesday. Our pricing calculator lets you test that directly before you commit to a schedule.

From first call to first visit

Four steps, and we do most of the work

You do not need a diagnosis, a plan number or the right words. Tell us what is happening and we will work out the rest with you.

  1. 1Talk to usCall, email or send a referral. We ask about the person, the household and what a good week looks like, not just which services you are funded for.
  2. 2Care planningWe review needs, budget and preferences together, and set out exactly which supports we would provide, on which days, at what cost.
  3. 3Matching your carerWe match a carer on language, gender preference, cultural fit and availability, then brief them properly on your household before the first visit.
  4. 4Services startSupport begins on the agreed schedule with the same carer wherever possible. We check in early, then keep checking in.
Send a referral Call 0405 789 515, email admin@amanahagedcare.com.au or use our referral page - whichever is easiest. We reply within one business day.
