Aged care in Fairfield
In-home and community aged care delivered across Fairfield and the surrounding suburbs, with carers matched on language, gender preference and culture.
What ageing in Fairfield actually looks like
Fairfield is one of the most linguistically diverse places in Australia, and for an older person that has a specific consequence. The suburb itself is navigable in your own language. The system around it is not. Smart Street and Ware Street will serve you in Arabic, Assyrian or Vietnamese; My Aged Care will not.
Closing that gap is most of what we do in Fairfield. It usually starts with the assessment rather than with the care, because a household that cannot explain what is happening tends to be assessed as needing less than it does.
The homes here
Largely freestanding post-war homes on regular blocks, with a growing number of townhouses and units closer to the station. Multigenerational households are common, and an older parent living with an adult child's family is the arrangement we see most.
Community and language
At the 2021 Census, Arabic, Assyrian Neo-Aramaic and Vietnamese were each spoken at home by more than one in ten residents, and only around one in six residents spoke English only. We can match Arabic-speaking carers reliably. For Assyrian and Chaldean Neo-Aramaic and for Vietnamese we will tell you at referral exactly what we can do, rather than promise a match and then rotate strangers through your home.

Asked locally
We speak Assyrian at home. Will you tell us you can match that when you cannot?
No. Arabic we can match reliably. For Assyrian and Chaldean Neo-Aramaic we will tell you at referral what we can actually do, and if we cannot match consistently we will say so rather than send a different carer every week. Some families in that position choose a carer who shares Arabic instead. That is a decision for your household, not for us to make quietly on your behalf.
My father lives with us and I work full time. Is respite meant for someone like me?
Yes, and Fairfield is where we have this conversation most often. A great many households here provide full-time care alongside work and school runs without ever calling it care. Flexible respite exists precisely for that, and using it is not a failure.
Where we take people in Fairfield
Fairfield is navigable in your own language and the system around it is not. Most of our outings here are about keeping the first part true.
Fairfield Library and Cafe
3 Hamilton Road
Close to the centre, with a cafe attached, which turns a library trip into something a person will agree to twice. It is one of the easier places to sit with someone for an hour without it feeling like an appointment.
The Smart Street and Ware Street shops
The centre of the suburb
The reason many older residents here have never needed much English. Accompanied shopping is our most requested outing in Fairfield, and a carer who shares the language changes what the trip is worth.
Fairfield Park
Along Prospect Creek
Flat and shaded, and far enough from the traffic to be quiet. It is the option we use when someone has been told to walk daily and the main streets are too crowded to do it in.
Getting to any of these sits under accompanied activities or direct transport. Both are funded services, not favours. If there is somewhere else that matters to the person you are calling about, tell us and we will build the week around that instead.
Other areas we cover
This is not a complete list. We deliver aged care across Sydney, so if your suburb is not shown here, get in touch and we will arrange suitable supports for you.
